Elaine (Schiavo) Mangiafico, 83, of Wethersfield, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 and is now reunited with her beloved husband of 58 years, Giovanni “John” Mangiafico, who predeceased her in January of this year. Born in Hartford on May 26, 1939, she was the daughter of the late James and Santina (Beninato) Schiavo. She loved to travel with her family, taking yearly trips to Italy and other parts of Europe. Elaine was an excellent cook and loved watching cooking shows and going out to eat with her family. Every night, she would religiously be found watching “Jeopardy” and the “Wheel of Fortune.” For many years, she was the secretary to the Attorney General for the State of Connecticut, retiring in 2004. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the Canicattini Bagni Society and their Ladies Bowling League.
A loving mother and grandmother, Elaine will be forever missed by her two children, Sebastian Mangiafico and wife Katie of Berlin and Lucia Morgan and husband Allan of Wethersfield and her two adored grandchildren who brought her so much joy, Vincent James Mangiafico and Olivia Lucia Morgan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Concetta Carbone of Wethersfield and her extended family. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Katherine Paddock for her compassionate care over the last two years.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 15 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield.
