Clark Rene Mills, 75, of Rocky Hill and Middletown, beloved husband to Evelyn Irene (Koontz) Mills, peacefully passed away Friday, November 17, 2023. Clark was born March 26, 1948 and raised in Metaline, WA, son of the late Jackson Whitwood Mills and Louise Estelle (Dahm) Mills. He attended school in WA, graduating from Ione-Metaline High School, Class of 1967, continuing his education and earning an Associate Degree in Draftsmanship at Spokane Community College.
Clark proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1974 when he was Honorably Discharged. In 1973 to 1974 he was stationed in Antarctica as part of Operation Deep Freeze. Clark completed his service in New Zealand, where he met Wendy Lorraine Egan. They moved to Spokane, WA where their two children, Ryan and Katy were born. Wendy passed away in 2003. Clark worked as a draftsman, engineer and IT supervisor for Pearson Packaging in Airway Heights, WA for 28 years before retiring in 2007.
Clark met Evelyn in 2005 and were married in 2006 in Maui. He was very devoted to his blended family. He loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Clark had Parkinson’s Disease for 43 years but he never let it get in the way of living best his life. His motto was “He wasn’t sick, he just had Parkinson’s Disease.”
Along with his wife Evelyn, Clark will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving family; his five children, Ryan Mills of Spokane, WA, Katy Voortman (Kevin), of North Charleston, SC, Holly Carr (Rebel) of Hot Springs, MT, Jennifer Morgan of Helena, MT, and Amy Kennedy(Cliff) of Meriden; his nine adored grandchildren, Gwendolyn Voortman, Kait Carr, Josey Silva (Justin), Wyatt Carr, Risa Crismore, Ashley Watkins (Brian), Haley Kennedy, Emily Kennedy, and Matthew Kennedy. In addition, three cherished great grandchildren, Thorin Sheets, Morgan Silva, and Nora Silva; and his loving sister, Jacqueline Van Hook of Bumcombe, IL.
A Celebration of Clark’s Life will be held Saturday, December 2, at 1:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Meriden, 159 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450. Clark’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
