Arthur Joseph LaFountain, 79, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 58 years to Georgie Ann (Johnson) LaFountain, entered into his eternal rest on Friday, October 27, 2023. Born in Hartford on February 23, 1944, he was the son of the late Henry LaFountain and Alice (Reed) LaFountain-Martin.
Arthur started his food vending career at Canteen Corp (Compass Group) as a route delivery driver where he moved up into management and retired after 40 years. As an owner of several real estate properties in the Hartford area, he dedicated a lot of personal time managing them.
Arthur was an avid tennis player and golfer. His favorite teams were Boston Celtics, New England Patriots and UCONN basketball.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Arthur will be forever missed by his devoted wife Georgie; his son, Arthur J. LaFountain, Jr. (Maria) of Meriden and his daughter, Lisa Johnson (Bruce) of Hartford.
He was affectionately known as "Papa" to his four adored grandchildren; Francesca, Alessandra, Arthur III, and Taylor and one great grandchild, Tristan.
He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Czernek and husband Stanley of East Hartford, brothers, Louis Martin of Buffalo, NY and James Martin and fiancée Donna of Glastonbury as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and lifelong friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Clayton Henry LaFountain.
Family was everything to him and every chance he could have a gathering he would. His favorite thing to do was to take his grandchildren shopping during the holidays to pick out their own outfits no matter what they looked like. He often took them out to Chuck E. Cheese and T-Bowl and made them root beer floats.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (Church of the Incarnation), 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Donations in Arthur’s memory may be made to your favorite charity.
