Arlene (Bradley) Veilleux joined her devoted husband R. Edmond Veilleux in their eternal rest on January 4th, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hartford, CT on May 21st, 1942, daughter of the late Francis Bradley and Alice (Webster) Bradley. She excelled in her scholarly pursuits, graduating from Wethersfield High School in 1960. She continued her education at University of Hartford where she earned her Life Science degree. After that, she went on to St. Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing where she graduated first in her class in 1965. Her career was one of service to others, and geriatric nursing was her passion. Arlene was adored by her patients as well as her colleagues, as she practiced nursing over the years, mostly at the Church Home of Wethersfield. However, her greatest joy was caring for her own family. She is survived by her sons John Veilleux of Newington, Tom Veilleux and his wife Deidra Beisel of West Hartford; her daughters Amanda Halpin and her husband Shawn of Rocky Hill, and Carolyn Crowley of MA; and her sisters Marilyn Serino of MD, and Jean Pedemonti of Manchester. Arlene is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Maya Veilleux, Alice Crowley, Michael Crowley, Patrick Halpin and Ryan Halpin. Arlene committed many years of her life to volunteering in her community with service to her fellow Wethersfield residents, running the medical equipment loan program; as an active member of the Sacred Heart Church where she was also a CCD teacher for multiple years; as a member of the Guild of St. Theresa; as well as a member of the Wethersfield/Rocky Hill Nurse’s Association. Funeral services will begin at 9:00am on Wednesday (January 9) from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Ave., Wethersfield. Family and friends may visit the funeral chapel on Tuesday (January 8) from 4 to 8pm. Memorial donations may be sent to The American Cancer Society 825 Brook St., I-95 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or the Wethersfield Rocky Hill Professional Nurse’s Association (WRHPNA care of Theresa Cresimanni, 72 Corncrib Lane, Rocky Hill, CT 06067) We would like to extend a special thank you to the The Hartford Hospital Gynecologic Oncology team, as well as Hartford Healthcare Hospice at Home Services, who provided Mom with the very best of care.
