Vera Terminiello, 94, of Long Branch, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024. She was born at home in Jersey City on October 7, 1929 to Michele and Rose (Tavarone) Niscia. She was the proud, loving wife of Joseph Terminiello, who passed away on March 9, 2012. She was a high school graduate of Dickenson High School in Jersey City. She lived in Washington Township, Hasbrouck Heights, and Mahwah in Bergen County, New Jersey, for 41 years. She and her beloved husband Joseph ran a successful business together: Valley Plumbing and Heating, which was a true labor of love. Joseph also built every house he, Vera, and their daughter, Joanne, lived in, while Vera took over the design of each home. Vera also worked as a realtor in Pascack Realty, where her focus was always on helping families find a home that was equally perfect for them.
In her life, Vera enjoyed travelling to many places all over the world with her family, as well as cooking recipes passed down from her mother. She loved to plan and design rooms, which included her daughter’s homes, her grandchildren’s dorm rooms, and later, their first apartments. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for many years, creating wonderful memories with her daughter.
She spent the last 12 years of her life at the shore, where she continued to live with her loving daughter and family. She is survived by her daughter Joanne Elizabeth Pirro, and her son-in-law John Philip Pirro. She was the beloved Nanny of Emily Marie Michaela, John Joseph, and Michael Eric Pirro.
She is predeceased by her loving parents, and sister Marie (Niscia) Meluso. She is also survived by her sisters Conncetta (Niscia) Detoro and Geraldine (Niscia) McFadden. She was Aunt Vera to her nieces and nephews. She loved to take everyone to the beach in the summer and gathered everyone in her home for Christmas, her favorite holiday. "We will miss our beloved Nanny and Mommy. She led by example with grace, faith, and compassion. We are proud to have had her in our lives.”
We invite all relatives and friends to honor her memory on August 16, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, New Jersey. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. from the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Washington Township, New Jersey.
