Susanna Battiston, treasured daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away at her home in Stockholm, NJ on July 11th at the age of 36 after a long illness.
Susanna was born in New York City in 1988 to Michael Battiston and Gail Adrian, and moved soon thereafter to Glen Rock, NJ where she spent her formative years. She was educated in the Glen Rock school system, including Glen Rock High School where, it became clear in school musical productions and coffeehouses that she was an exceptionally talented vocalist and performer.
In 2005 she moved to Boston where she attended Emerson College, studying marketing and media. After school she moved to Philadelphia where she worked various jobs and formed many friendships. She worked in Pennsylvania as a campaign manager for the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016, a role in which she was especially proud, as her team was able to flip her voting district blue from the previous election. She returned to New Jersey where she picked up her marketing career in a number of positions, including digital sales and at the time of her passing was very much looking forward to beginning a new job as a marketing manager for an escape room business.
Susanna had a special love for animals, beginning with her beloved dog Fang back in Glen Rock. Wherever she traveled, if there was a petting zoo to be found she found it, much to her delight. She also loved musical theater, and didn’t hesitate to break out into a show tune given the opportunity.
Susanna is survived and deeply missed by her mother Gail Adrian, her father Michael Battiston and stepmother Victoria Campoamor, her brother Ronald Battiston, sister-in-law Elizabeth, nephew Wesley and step brothers Juan and Mane Sevilla.
There is no question that if Susanna had a hand in this obituary, she would say that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either Eleventh Hour Rescue NJ (https://www.ehrdogs.org/info/donate) or your local animal rescue shelter.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18th at Becker’s Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood NJ 07675 from 4 to 6pm, along with a family-led memorial at 6pm which will conclude the visitation.
