Stephen John Duffe

DUFFE, Rev. Stephen J., 71, of Twp. of Washington, NJ, formerly of Union, NJ, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Fr. Steve was born in Newark, NJ to Brendan and Kathryn Duffe. Loving brother of John "Jack" Duffe and his wife Dorothy, Kevin Duffe and his wife Gail, and the late Joan Conlon and her late husband William. Cherished uncle of Karen Trucco, Maureen Artuso and Steven Duffe. Fr. Steve is also survived by six grand nieces and one grand nephew. Fr. Steve was a graduate of Georgetown University, Class of 1967. He attended Immaculate Conception Seminary and School of Theolgy at Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ. He was ordained to the Priesthood on May 26, 1996. He was assigned to Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Twp. of Washington, NJ as Parochial Vicar and served there until his death. Prior to ordination to the Priesthood, Stephen walked at Prudential for 23 years. Fr. Steve was an Army Veteran having served our country. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, 668 Ridgewood Road, Twp. of Washington, NJ on Sunday, September 28, from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Fr. Steve's life, faith and priesthood will be held at the church on Monday, September 29 at 10AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Fr. Steve's name to St. John R.C. Church, 22 Mulberry Street, Newark, NJ 07102, c/o "Feeding the Poor".
