Stephen Peter, 94, a resident of Park Ridge for 52 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 7, 2015, at Brighton Gardens of Saddle River, where he had lived for the last eighteen months. He is the son of Thomas and Natalia (Pacholek), the beloved husband of the late Roberta (Robinson), loving father of Robin Kreismer (Jack), the late Ruthe Roberts, and Randi Willey (Stan) and grandfather of Jeffrey, Glenn, Ruth and Rebekah. He was pre-deceased by his brother Stanley and two sisters, Betty Holowinski and Mary Lackovic. Steve is survived by his sister-in-law Sally Walker and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Steve grew up in Ridgefield and, in 1939, graduated from Englewood’s Dwight Morrow High School where he played baseball, excelling as a pitcher. He later graduated from the American Institute of Technology in NYC as a television technician and was a longtime employee of the RCA Service Company in Hackensack. Steve served in the United States Navy during WWII (1942-46) and during the Korean War (1950-52). As a member of the American Legion Post 153, the Golden Age Club, and a parishioner of Pascack Reformed Church, he formed many close friendships. A former member of the Harmonica Club of Glen Rock, he enjoyed playing the instrument for the residents at Brighton Gardens. He will be remembered for his positive nature, kindness and cheerfulness to all. The family is forever grateful for Steve's longtime friendships, his visitors, and his care from his wonderful aides. Rev. William Grob officiated at a private burial held on Wednesday, June 9th at the Pascack Cemetery. There will be a Memorial Service on June 20th at 11 a.m. at the Pascack Reformed Church, Park Ridge, NJ.
