Robert T. Keegan (Bob), 64, of Township of Washington, passed away on January 26, 2017. Loving husband to Marion for 40 years, devoted father of Colin, Tara, and Liam. Survived by brother Andrew and his wife, Mary Beth, their daughter Rebecca, and brother-in-law Richard Steinmetz and his wife Nonie, and their son David. Bob was born and raised in Newark where he attended St. Michael’s and Essex Catholic schools and developed an early love for baseball and basketball. He later lived in Kearny with Marion where he played softball and worked for Prudential Insurance, then moved to Township of Washington in the 1980s. Bob earned degrees in Psychology from Montclair State College, The New School for Social Research in NYC, and Rutgers University in Newark. Bob was a professor at Pace University, Pleasantville, NY for over 30 years, and in recent years he served in different roles for the International Baccalaureate Organization where he designed a new psychology curriculum. He considered his most important work to be that of a loving and present husband and father, always making time for long conversations at the dinner table and tending to the yard where he played endlessly with his children in their youth, teaching them how to hit and throw baseballs, shoot hoops, and find joy in the outdoors. He brought music into the house through his own talents, his love of Irish folk music, and yearly family trips to the Mystic Seaport Music Festival. Until the very end, he maintained hope that we could bring about a better world and was eager to do his part alongside his family that loved him. A memorial gathering will be held for Bob at a future date. Arrangements under the direction of Becker Funeral Home, Westwood, NJ.
