EGNER, Robert W., 94, of Hillsdale, NJ, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016. He was born in Richmond Hills, NY to Rheinhardt and Martha Egner. Beloved husband of Christine Egner. Devoted father of Nancy Markos and her husband, Art, and Barbara Stansfield and her husband, Seth. Christine has three children, Karin Eustis, Carla Bond and Georgene Matthews with her late husband, George. Loving grandfather of Lance, Wendy, Samantha, John, James, Brittin, Jacqueline, Christina and Jordan. Bob was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Betty S. Egner. Bob obtained his college degree from Pace Institute in 1943. Upon graduation, he was commissioned in the US Navy and served as a main battery gunnery officer on the USS Quincy until 1946. Bob then joined Coopers and Lybrand on January 17, 1947 and he became a partner in 1960. Bob retired from Coopers and Lybrand after 37 1/2 years. Bob was a man who embraced his time in the Navy. The Navy brought Bob to the beaches of Normandy for the D Day Invasion. One of Bob's greatest Naval experiences was taking President Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference aboard the Quincy. Bob also had a great passion for his career with Coopers and Lybrand. A memorial service celebrating the life of Bob Egner will be held at the First Congregational Church, River Edge, NJ, on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to the First Congregational Church, 109 Continental Avenue, River Edge, NJ 07661.
