Robert F. Burke “Boppie”, age 87, of River Vale, NJ, passed away on October 31, 2012. Born in Joliet, Illinois then moved to Pittsburgh, PA as a child. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Doctorate in Chemical Engineering. Robert went on to work for several chemical companies before ultimately working for Hoffmann-La Roche, from which he retired. He enjoyed many summers in South Chatham, MA. Beloved husband to the late Frances (nee Frederick), devoted father of Kirsten Herlihy and Laura Burke, loving grandfather of Patrick, Ryan and Kevin Herlihy. Donations can be made to the River Vale Public Library, his favorite place for reading.
