Richard Alan Sims, 80, of River Vale, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Beloved husband of Gloria Sims. Devoted father of Loren Farling and Christopher Sims, and stepfather of Janine Palladino. Loving grandfather of Jacqueline Sims, Marissa Vyhonsky, Siena Palladino, and Leia Palladino. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, he then lived in Hillsdale for 26 years and River Vale for 4 years. Rick attended William Patterson College in Wayne, NJ and Parsons School of Design in NYC. He was self-employed as a decorative painter. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Independence in the Cuban Missile Crisis. A mass celebrating Rick’s life and faith will be held on December 20th at 11:00am at Saint Pius X Church, 268 Old Tappan Road, Old Tappan, NJ 07675.
