CORRA, Paul, 85, of Washington Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024. Born in Revò, Trentino, Italy, on October 25, 1938, he was the sixth of nine children to John Thomas Corrà and Alfonsina Caterina Flaim.
At 15, he emigrated to the United States aboard the Queen Mary, joining his father and siblings in Bergen County, NJ. Known for his robust work ethic and hands-on approach, he had a successful career in civil construction, retiring as Carpenter General Superintendent from Slattery-Skanska in 2001 after 44 years of service.
Paul married Catherine Claps in 1971, welcoming her into the sprawling Corra family he loved so much. Together, they raised four children amongst an array of nieces, nephews, and pets. His distinctive laugh and memorable sayings were a staple of countless holidays, birthdays, and late-night penny-ante sibling poker games. Paul was an avid woodworker who spent hours tinkering in his well-appointed garage. Whether you knew him by Paul, Dad, Papa, Uncle Paul, Gnocca, or Linka, he will be sorely missed.
His wife Cathie and their four children survive Paul: Suzanne and her husband Bill Heidenreich, Theresa, Michael and his wife Tammy (Kublin), & Gregory and his wife Nina (Cheung), and six grandchildren Kate, Amy, Tabitha, Gabriel, Summer, and Maximilian.
Paul is predeceased by his siblings Giacinto, Richard, Mary (Caromil), Rita (Krokus), Carl, and Louis. He is survived by his brother Lino, sister Josephine (Krokus), and multiple generations of nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are Thursday, April 18th, between 4-8 pm at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd in Westwood, NJ. Funeral Service will be on Friday, April 19th at 10 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 668 Ridgewood Rd., Twp. of Washington, NJ. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
