She was a consummate wife and homemaker supporting her husband Leon Leslie in his distinguished career as a corporate manager.
She was born June 25, 1928, the daughter of Hazel “Girlie” and William Hill, a banker. She graduated from Westwood High School in 1946 and married Leon J. Leslie, of River Vale, also a Westwood grad.
From the mid-1960’s until his death in 1996 at age 67, Leon Leslie advanced from sales to the executive ranks at Union Camp Corporation, ultimately becoming a vice-president with responsibility for two major manufacturing facilities in Englewood and Clifton.
After her husband’s death, Nancy Leslie took up travel and volunteering, and made countless close friendships. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Westwood. She delivered approximately 10,000 meals for Meals-on-Wheels.
Nancy Leslie is survived by a cousin, Jean Fartherington, lifelong friend, Dan Luciano, and numerous “nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews,” including: Janet Lindeman, Greg Domantay, Geneva Domantay, Ginnie Pastor, Leslie Lindeman, Paul Lindeman, Deborah Catalioto, Martin Catalioto, Sandy Schrettner, Kimberly Schrettner, Amy Heinrich, Daniela Castillo and Brian Bergholtz.
A wake will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5 at the Becker Funeral Home, Westwood, with services following at 12 noon at Zion Lutheran Church, Westwood; burial will be immediately thereafter at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
