Miriam "Connie" Scheffler

Miriam “Connie” Scheffler (nee Bay), age 85 of River Vale, NJ passed away peacefully on October 9, 2012. Daughter of the late Anna and Peter Bay, she was born in the Bronx and spent almost 40 years of her life in Englewood Cliffs before retiring to her beloved Long Beach Island. She was a parishioner of St. Cecilia Church, Englewood, NJ.

Beloved wife of the late William Richard Scheffler, Jr. Loving mother of William R. Scheffler III and his wife Lori, Leslie Fernandez and her husband William, Peter Scheffler and his wife Maureen, Scott Scheffler and his wife Diane and Donna Lilien and her husband Steven. She was the proudest grandmother of 18 grandchildren, William and Courtney Scheffler, Jessica Fernandez and her husband Todd Cohen, Stephanie Fernandez and her husband Sachin Patel, William Fernandez, Samantha, Matthew, Tyler and Dana Scheffler, Callie, Scottie, Sara and Molly Scheffler, Jamie Lilien and her husband Andrew Bianco, Matthew, Brian, Eric and Allyn Lilien. She was so looking forward to being a great grandmother in November and Brian and Chelsea’s wedding in December. She is survived by her sister, Sophie Salisbury, as well as, numerous relatives and friends of Bill W.

Connie enjoyed classic movies, spending time at the beach, enjoying her grandchildren and clipping her weekly coupons. We all love you and will always keep you in our hearts and prayers. Rest in peace. Friends may call at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Friends and family can meet at St. Cecilia Church, 55 West Demarest Ave., Englewood, NJ on Saturday 11am for Connie’s funeral mass. Interment will follow in Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tomorrows Children’s Fund, Hackensack University Medical Center, 30 Prospect Ave., Hackensack, NJ 07601 in her memory.
