Michael Dominic, 68 of Emerson NJ, formerly of Summit NJ, passed away on July 28th following a valiant battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 38 years to Peggy Pink Masi and devoted father to Kim, Robyn and James and wife Paige. Mike is also survived by his cherished mother, Ann Rispoli Masi and sisters and brothers-in-law: Joyce and Jack Mason, Peggy and Jim McManus and Ginny and Randy Stiponovich. Fun loving uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his father Dominic Masi, also a loving family man and engineer. Michael was a graduate of Bayley Ellard High School in Madison and later attended Stevens Institute of Technology where he majored in Mechanical Engineering and followed that degree with a Masters at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His career spanned four decades, across several engineering firms, including his most recent employment with Doosan Engineering in Montvale, NJ.
Mike led an exciting life, as his work allowed him to travel extensively through the US, Europe and Asia, but always closest to his heart were his family, friends, faith and of course the fourth F-food. His co-workers and friends always knew who to go to for a stash of goodies! He loved golf, gardening, the Mets, the Jets, historical documentaries and the beach-as long as the water was extremely warm! He also loved to cook for his family, with his specialties being weekend breakfast feasts and a legendary osso bucco. His patience and good humor could always be counted on, but Mike was also a constant provider of sound advice, which could be delivered during an inspirational toast, a joke at the dinner table, or on a quiet walk with loved ones. Mike will also be remembered as an inspiring teacher and coach: whether it was tutoring his children, being a mentor at work, or always rooting for the underdog as a little league coach, Mike loved to encourage others.
Family and friends are invited to The Becker Funeral Home, located at 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Thursday, July 31st from 2-8pm. The Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held at The Church of the Assumption in Emerson on Friday, August 1st at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Children's Therapy Center in Fairlawn or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
