Michael B. Carpenter, Jr.

Michael Burns Carpenter, Jr, age 90, of Westwood, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024. Beloved Husband of Carolyn. Devoted Father to Michael, Mary and Husband Charles DiBenedetto, adored Grandfather (Pa) to Taylor, Charlie, Lucy and Nicole and his precious Grandog Ella.

Michael was Pre-deceased by his parents, Michael and Mary Carpenter. He had 39 Nieces and Nephews along with their Spouses and Families. Dear Brother of Patricia Lawler. He was also Predeceased by Brother John and wife Ruth, Sister Eleanor and Pep Saul, Sister Katherine and Ben Quinn and Brother-in-Law George Lawler.

Michael was Born in Hackensack, NJ. He Graduated from Westwood High School in 1953 and then served in the Army. After the army he attended college and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson in Madison NJ. He grew up in Westwood and Hillsdale and married the Love of his Life Carolyn where they raised their two beautiful Children Michael and Mary and resided in Westwood, NJ. For 60 years.

He was a member of Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Westwood NJ. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Westwood NJ where he was a third Degree Knight and Treasury Secretary.

Michael served as Board Member for an organization very special to his heart, Spectrum for Living. His tireless efforts along with his brother Knights, and many volunteers in orchestrating the annual Walkathon and many other events that made Spectrum for Living what it is today.

The family will receive their relatives and friends on Sunday December 22 from 1 pm to 5 pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ.

A Mass celebrating Michael’s Life and Faith will be held on Monday December 23rd at 11:30 at St Andrews Roman Catholic Church 120 Washington Avenue in Westwood NJ. The interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, in Mahwah, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spectrum for Living (spectrumforliving.org) which was very dear to Michael’s heart.
