everyone who knew her because she was no ordinary person. She was the kindest, most
generous woman who helped anyone who was having a tough time. Although she had no
children of her own, her cousins’ children, and their children, were loved and cherish.
Marie spoke Italian for the first five years of her life and went to Kindergarten not
speaking English. She not only mastered the language, she graduated High School at the
age of sixteen and worked at Metropolitan Insurance Company as a Budget Analyst until
she retired at age sixty. Marie was full of energy and loved to travel. With her sister, Rina,
they traveled all through Europe and the United States, enjoying every new experience.
They especially loved Italy because their extended family lived there. Many joyful times,
and good food, were shared together, all captured by Marie with her many, many beautiful
photographs.
Marie’s sudden death is not something we can understand. She was a devout
Catholic and trusted in the Lord, so we must also. Sometimes people travel through life
just getting through day by day, with no joy or compassion. Marie was a joyful and an
exceptionally compassionate woman. She always took time to listen to friends’ problems,
help with advice when she could, and always did her best to comfort them. We are lucky
to have had her in our lives, to enjoy family gatherings together, to laugh and cry together.
God Blessed us with Marie and we are thankful. We must continue living without her, but
she will be with us always. May she rest in peace.
