LUSK, Margaret “Marion” (nee Miller), of Old Tappan, formerly of Harrington Park & Yonkers, NY, passed away on October 5, 2015. Margaret was born an only child in 1921 to late parents Alfred & Irene (nee Mahan) Miller in Yonkers, NY. Margaret is predeceased by her parents and her beloved late husband of 50 years John “Jack” Lusk, who was a veteran of WWII.
Margaret is survived by her son John Lusk of Danbury, CT, daughters Irene Vuich and her husband John of New Bern, NC, Madeline Krazit and her husband Jim of Woodcliff Lake & Stacey Hornsbey of UT, grandchildren Christopher, Gregory, Alexandra, Victoria & Sean as well as her great-grandchildren Lilly, Jack, William, Anastasia & Olivia.
While spending most of her life in Yonkers, Margaret became a successful real estate broker; while her husband, Jack, was an electrical contractor for Stewart Stamping. Upon her husband’s death, Margaret sold her home in Yonkers and moved to Brookside Village in Harrington Park. It didn’t take long for Margaret to assume responsibility for running “Club 60” a very active senior citizens organization. She was involved for over 15 years in activities including bus trips, holiday dinners, attending plays, etc. She was instrumental in obtaining local government grants for the organization enabling “her seniors” to continue an active social life after selling their homes or losing their spouses.
In 2012, Margaret entered Sunrise Assisted-Living – a place she specifically wanted to move to when the time came. She enjoyed her time there quickly befriending staff & residents alike, as well as enjoying the various activities they offered. In 2013, Margaret was an honored guest of Harrington Park’s mayor who held a special ceremony to personally thank her for her volunteer efforts over the years. Margaret always loved children, and like children, had a childlike curiosity about anything new that came her way. She left her mark on the world with her kindness, generosity and never-ending optimism towards life! Her encouragement to live life to the fullest has left its mark on her family. We will miss her in our lives.
