Lawrence P. Campbell

Lawrence (Larry) Patrick Campbell, 82, of Hillsdale passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020. He was born on June 23,1938 in Manhattan. Son of the late Grace (Gallagher) and James Campbell formally of Co. Donegal, Ireland. Larry was the second of five brothers; William, James (dec), John (dec), and Vincent (dec).

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary (nee Kelly) Campbell and his devoted children Lawrence and his wife Linda of Tenafly, NJ, Michael of Vail, CO, Daniel and his wife Andrea of Fort Collins, CO, Colleen and her husband Jeff Mahan of Dublin, OH. He was a loving Grandfather of Travis, Taylor, Liam, Campbell, Andrew, Ellie, Ryen, Daniel, James and Bryn.

He grew up in Washington Heights, NY and attended Incarnation School and Rice High School on a basketball scholarship. He loved remembering all of his friends and good times that he spent in the “Heights” and in East Durham NY. Larry was an avid golfer, he was a long time member Old Tappan Golf Course and Northwood Golf Club Rockleigh. Larry worked in Data Processing as a computer programmer at General Motors, Scholastic Magazine, EDS, ABS, CTG and retired from SIAC in 2001.

Larry was a life long Yankees fan and often walked to the stadium as a young boy. He was also a great fan of the NY Rangers and unfortunately the NY Jets. Larry had great humility and a keen sense of humor. He was also extremely proud of his Irish heritage and was able to visit Ireland on several occasions. He also had a great love of travel to visit new places and be with his family and friends. Larry will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Viewing will be Sunday, December 13, 2020 from 2-6pm at Becker Funeral Home in Westwood, NJ and the Funeral Mass will be Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10am at St. John the Baptist Church in Hillsdale, NJ followed by burial at Rockland Cemetery.
