June Havriliak

June Havriliak, age 93, of Spring Valley NY, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023, at Pascack Valley Hospital. She is survived by her three children Damian (Joanna), Roman (Karen) and Mark, and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence. Visitation at Becker Funeral Home, Westwood NJ on Feb 3, 2023, 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:30PM-9:00PM with an evening service from 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Funeral Service on February 4, 2023 10:00AM at St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, 64 W Church St., Spring Valley, NY; repast to follow.

Born in August, 1929 in Clifton, NJ to the late John and Ann Evanyke, June lived the majority of her life in Rockland County, NY. Having been very active in her high school (officer of student Entertainment Committee, cheerleader), she graduated Spring Valley High School in 1946. She married Larry Havriliak in 1952 - they were married for 61 years and were inseparable during that time. Less than a year after marrying, they sold their belongings and the couple left on a months-long European tour with the famed Jaroff Don Cossack Chorus, with June being a troupe dancer. They settled in Spring Valley upon their return and June opened a dance studio where she enjoyed teaching her passion. June was an integral member of St. John’s Russian Orthodox Church Choir, Spring Valley, where they released multiple albums of choral music over the years. She worked as Executive Secretary to the President at Orange and Rockland Utilities for many years, retiring in 1994. June lived life to the fullest, enjoying annual summer vacations at the NJ shore and travelling with her husband. She took up tap dancing in her 80’s and continued to sing in choirs her entire life. She took great joy in conversing with everyone she met and her bubbly personality, compassion and loving nature endeared all to her.
