HLIBOKI, Joseph G., “GRANDPA”, 82, on Friday, December 2, 2016 of Old Tappan. Beloved husband of the late Joan (Antes). Devoted father of Ellen Najjar and her husband Sessine; Mary Beth Schmidt and her husband Wayde; Joseph and his wife Cathy; Chris and his wife Lorraine; Jim and his wife Hildi. Dear brother of Mary Anne Nicolosi and her husband Nick and Margaret Hliboki. Loving grandfather of Daniel and his wife Jenn, Christine and her fiancé Gus, Marie Claire, Austin, Helen, Jaime, Drew, Sam, Bryan, Cara and Maddie. Great grandfather of Henry Najjar. Born in New York City, he grew up in Bogota, before moving to Bergenfield and then Dumont after getting married. Joe and Joan settled in Old Tappan in 1960, where he resided for 56 years. Joe attended one year of college before joining Teaneck Chemical Company at the age of 19. He continued to work there, eventually becoming an officer and shareholder of the company. Later, the company became Teaneck Graphics and Joseph became President and the majority owner in the 1970's. Joe was an originator of two US Patents for the Fast Draw Vacuum System which revolutionized the graphic arts industry. He continued to operate the company until he sold it and retired in the late 1990's. In retirement, he became a full-time grandfather and attendee at all of his grandchildren's events and ballgames. Always an expert with tools, Dad tackled all manner of household projects big and small, and was always willing to lend his hand and his time for his children. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Norwood, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of NJ Fire Chiefs Association and a lifetime member of the Old Tappan Fire Department where he served as chief. He served with the Army National Guard for many years, attaining the rank of Second Lieutenant. He also served as president of the Old Tappan Board of Adjustment for many years. Visitation at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church at 10:00am, followed by burial at George Washington Memorial Park..
