SMITH, John F., age 79, died peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2017. He grew up in Woodside, Queens and lived in Emerson for 43 years. John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary (nee Hyde). Beloved son Kevin and his wife Antoinette, his cherished grandsons Ryan and Sean. He is also survived by two brothers, Francis and Dennis. His brother Philip predeceased him. He was PGK of K of C Council #5819. He was a Marine Corps Veteran and the chaplain for the Marine Corps League, Gooney Bird detachment, and a Eucharistic Minister at Church of The Assumption. Visiting will be Tuesday, March 7th at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8th at 10 AM at Church of The Assumption in Emerson. Interment will follow at Cemetery of The Ascension, Airmont, NY. -
