Janet Rita Cummings

On December 9, 2022, Janet Cummings passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was 82 years old. Born in Yonkers, New York, she attended St. Joseph School and High School of Commerce. As an adult, she received an associate degree in human services at Rockland Community College followed by a long career in medical administration. With her husband and children she lived in Suffern, NY, Ramsey, NJ, and 26 years retired in Palm Beach County, Florida. She held a lifelong interest in reading, learning, and problem solving, and helped others to gain clarity to sort through their own challenges. A devoted wife and mother, a staunch liberal and feminist, a lover of design and fashion, she was empowered in many ways.

Predeceased by her parents, Salvatore and Antoinette Porcello, she is survived by her husband, Don Cummings, her brother, Joseph Porcello, her children and their spouses, Sally Cummings (T Gundling), Don Cummings (Adam Waring), Greg Cummings (Debra Cummings), and her three grandchildren, Daniel Cummings, Evan Gundling, and Paul LaDuca.

A gathering on Saturday at 1:00 with services at 2:00 will take place at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675, followed by a celebratory meal.
