Howard “Howie” Jay Viele, of Westwood, N.J. passed away on March 17, 2019, he was 78 years old. He was a draftsman and sharpshooter in the US Army National Guard, a self- employed custom knifemaker for over 40 yrs, a 5th degree (Godan rank) black belt in karate, a much loved husband, father, grandfather and son who had an incredibly kind heart, evident in his love for his family and for animals. Howard is survived by his wife of almost 55 yrs., Ann (nee Thomas), 3 children - Gene, Suzanne (Ryan) and Margaret (Tim), 6 grandchildren - Thomas, Caitlin, Megan, Matthew, Benjamin and Kelsey, and mother, Stephanie Fronte. He is predeceased by his beloved stepfather Joseph Fronte, father Howard Viele, granddaughter Hailey and grandson Tyler. A memorial visitation will be held at Becker Funeral Home on June 8, 2019, 11am -1pm. Memorial tributes will begin at 12 noon.
