On March 12, 2014 the world lost an extraordinary person. Henry shared his life with his wife, Luisa. His son Joseph and daughter Marisa were the center of his world. With his sense of humor and selfless love and devotion he guided them and was very proud of the persons they had become. His family circle expanded with the addition of Gina, his daughter-in-law, and Adam, his son-in-law. Henry was happiest spending time with his family and dogs on LBI. He will be missed by his two grandsons, Benjamin and Brandon, who brought much joy and happiness to his life.
Henry graduated from the University of Miami. He was sent to the Army Intelligence Division where he was trained as a crypt analyst and assigned to a post in Turkey. After his tour of duty, Henry decided that he loved helping people. He earned his doctorate from Columbia University in 1983. His educational career began at Fieldstone Middle School, Montvale, when he was hired as the school’s first guidance counselor. In addition to his duties as a school counselor, Henry coached the girls’ basketball team. With his best friend, Richard Russo, Henry coached the track team as well. In 2001 Henry joined the faculty of William Paterson University. This educational environment created a path for Henry to affect and enrich the lives of his students. He left a mark on everyone. As one student said at the end of her studies,“ I wish I could take you in my pocket and carry you with me throughout life.”
