Frederick F. McIntosh III passed away on March 10, 2022 at his beloved home in Old Tappan, New Jersey with his family around him. Fred had a life filled with love and devotion. He is survived by his wife Lynn; his children John, Marcia, Anne, Jim, Stephen and Andrew; his sons-in-law Ted and Flip; his daughters-in-law Christine and Donna; his grandchildren Christopher, Molly, Matthew, Dylan and Thomas.
Fred was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on November 16, 1927 and spent his childhood in Spencer, West Virginia. He attended The Greenbriar Military Academy, earned an undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and a law degree from Harvard University.
He served as counsel for a division of ITT in Nutley, New Jersey and as president of McIntosh Oil & Gas Company in Spencer, West Virginia.
Fred was a jazz scholar and shared his love of music with many friends and family over the years hosting jazz picnics at his lovely home, hiring some of the greatest bands and performers in the NYC metropolitan area.
"Mac" was an active member of the "Jazz Record Masters of North Jersey" for many years and
and hosted club meetings at his home numerous times.
Fred passed away listening to Billie Holiday, one of his favorite jazz performers.
Family will plan a celebration of life at a summer jazz picnic.
