Born in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, and raised in Little Ferry, NJ, he is the son of the late James and Muriel (Regan) Gravina.
Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 and courageously fought on the front lines for his country during the Vietnam War. Throughout his service, he meritoriously earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Bar, Bronze Service Star, Sharpshooter (Rifle) and he was inducted as a Lifetime Member of the Veteran’s of Foreign War – Chapter 800 in February, 2008.
Frank moved to Hillsdale, New Jersey in 1971, where he lived with his wife, Cookie, and family for the rest of his life. He was dedicated to coaching his son’s recreation sports teams and supporting local businesses, much like his own, in the town of Hillsdale.
Frank dedicated his life to owning and operating his own construction business, Frank Gravina Home Improvements. He achieved and surpassed his dreams and provided many people throughout the years with magnificent homes of which he was extremely proud.
He left his legacy to his family of his blood, sweat, and tears of a home he built with his bare hands from the ground up located in Walton, New York, where he enjoyed so many good-times, laughs and memories.
Frank is survived by his long-time sweetheart and loving wife of 52 years, Katherine (Cookie), his children, Frank Gravina Jr. and his wife Rebecca, Michael Gravina and his wife Kylan, his loving grandchildren, Alexa, Frankie, Gianna, Mikey, Danny, and Kyra Gravina. He is also survived by his brother, James Gravina and his wife Christine “Chris”, his sister-in-law Linda Gravina; brother-in-law, Tommy Gleeson; and brother-in-law, John Jones and his wife, Maryanne. Frank is additionally survived by many loving nieces and nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his sister, Muriel Gleeson (Gravina) and his brother, Joseph Gravina.
The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Thursday, October 5 from 4-8PM.
