Doris McCarthy (nee Brockner), 88 entered eternal rest on July 3 after a brief illness. Born in Dumont, NJ, Doris graduated Dumont High School and attended Kean College. She lived in New Milford and worked as a pharmacy assistant at Dumont Drugs for over 30 years. She was widowed in 1958 by the love of her life, James “Jimmy” McCarthy and raised her loving children, Gail Jean McCarthy Gold and Wayne James McCarthy, alone. In recent years, she shared a special friendship with her cousin, George Armbruster. She is predeceased by her parents Ruby and Alexander Brockner. She is survived by Gail Gold and her husband Mitchell; Wayne McCarthy and his wife Beth Stuber McCarthy; her four grandsons, Matthew James, Joshua Joseph, and Aaron Burton Gold, and Kevin Joseph McCarthy; her brother, Edwin Brockner and his wife Irene; and her sister- in –law, Sr. Joan McCarthy and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Visiting hours are Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Becker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday 11am at the funeral home with the interment to follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
