Donna J. Becker

Donna Jane Becker (Gately) passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023. She was born on July 24, 1943 to Muriel and Edward Gately of Fairfield, NJ where she spent her childhood and was in the first graduating class of James Caldwell High School. She continued her education at William Paterson University where she met her college sweetheart and future husband, Bob Becker. They both graduated in 1965 with degrees in art education. She taught her first three years in Washington, NJ. When she married and moved to Bergen County, she continued to teach art in the Emerson elementary schools for 30 years. She also taught many years for the Gifted Child Society. Donna was a remarkable teacher who made creating art a joy for the countless students who were fortunate to be in her class. She truly made the world a more beautiful place.

Donna is survived by her beloved husband, Bob, of 55 years and they have resided in Woodcliff Lake together for over 50 years. Her cherished daughter, Bonny Faith and dearly loved son-in-law, Greg Fuller of Brigantine, and her precious granddaughter, Ella Grace Fuller were always on her mind. Ella and her Nanah had a special bond as Donna was always there for her to share in all of her joys and accomplishments. Family was everything to Donna and she devoted her life loving and caring for them. She was very thoughtful, never missing anyone’s birthday or special occasion. She was a gift to all that knew her. Donna was generous and kind, always putting others first. She was patient, and a constant source of love, guidance and support. She enjoyed traveling and preparing amazing meals for family and friends. She possessed a witty sense of humor and created many cherished memories with everyone that will always be remembered. She was the rock of her family and will be forever missed.

Donna also leaves her sister, Martha Duxbury and nephews Dan and Jed and sister-in-law Jeanne Gately and niece Sarah. As well as many dear and beloved friends she has made over the years. She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Gary Gately.

Visiting will be Friday, July 28, 2-4 and 7-9 at the Becker Funeral Home - 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ.
