Debra J. Moye (nee DeRosa) of Washington Twp., NJ. Debbie left this life peacefully but too early on Monday, January 15, 2018 surrounded by her loving husband John, family and friends at the young age of 60. Born June 1, 1957, Debbie began her career at NJ Bell in 1979. She was one of 3 women “linemen” hired into her district. Needless to say, she was the lone survivor 39 years later due to her unquestionable work ethic, tenacity and tough spirit. It was at the telephone company that she met the love of her life, John Moye. They have been married for 21 years. Debbie had an effervescent personality. She was coined recently as “sunshine in a bottle”, always a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye and an infectious giggle. She had a passion for helping all things living, whether it be a friend, an animal, or a stranger she just met. Deb was the first to volunteer her time, energy, compassion, and humor and gave whatever was needed of her. She was also spontaneous, always ready for an adventure, even if it meant going to a cabin in the woods with no running water and an outhouse in the midst of a snowstorm. She possessed a strong love of beauty. She would miraculously turn a weed field into a magnificent vista of flowers and colors. She was most at peace toiling in the garden, petting her animals, floating in a pool, sitting by the ocean and spending time in her beautiful home with John. To all that were blessed to know Deb, she has made an indelible mark in our minds and hearts. Deb will be leaving a legacy of love. Debbie is predeceased by her parents, Marge and Donald DeRosa. She leaves behind her husband John Moye, brother Danny DeRosa and wife Joanne and her nieces Daniella and Gina DeRosa. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Wednesday, January 17 from 4-8PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Debbie’s life and faith will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Twp. of Washington, NJ on Thursday, January 18 at 10AM. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories, Twp. of Washington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Debbie’s name to the Bergen County Animal Shelter, Teterboro, NJ.
