When a field is named after you and so many loving, admirable things said of you the true contribution you made was full and rich. RIP Coach. You were one of finest men I ever met. I'm sorry for the families loss. Tom LaVecchia, class of '73.

Coach Boswell, my memories of you will live in my heart forever. Thank you for your hugs, after Driver's Training when I was scared to death after driving on the freeway. For the time I dropped my Husband off at the airport on his way to Vietnam, and we had finals that Day, you allowed me to go home and take the final the next day in typing. That was the kind of Man you were, always loving, caring and kind. You celebration of life Friday was Beautiful, so many of your players, students, family & friends were there. I was so very touched by what your family had to say about what kind of Man you were, the man they knew. R.I.P. Coach Thank you for touching my life forever.

Football taught me to never give up, and I never have. Coach had a saying, "Dream big and you deeds will grow." I never forgot that, either. Thanks, Coach Boswell.

He was one of Red and Norma Clifton's best briends.  Gave the eulogy at both their funerals. Al, Noel and I all knew him and are sad to say good bye.  Only good this is that he can now play golf with dad every day.

He was the biggest influence in my life. He called us "weinies" when we screwed up. No cussing. "Everyday Everyway we get a little better, HEY" was our battle cry. He was the reason I was successful in football. Coach is the reason I was a successful coach  and teacher for 30yrs. It was a different place and time and he was the definition of a great FB coach. God rest his soul.

I am saddened at such a great loss.   I only know Bill as "Papa Bear."  He was as gentle as a lamb and always made everyone feel like they were part of the family.   He will be greatly missed-  Cindy Vandemoortel  (Topaz Family)

1976, Sunset League Champions, we were on top of the world.  Coach Boswell let us toss him into the WHS pool!  I never saw him smile as big as that night.  To say he was a coach is an understatement.  He was our mentor on and off the field.  The lessons I learned from Coach Boswell and his staff have stuck with me my entire life.  He taught us to never ever consider quitting.  I'm 55 yet I still hear his voice.  I still remember the lessons he taught.  I still have the passion for life he instilled.  He demanded the best from us and showed us how to demand the best from ourselves.  This remains with me now as I pass down the same lessons to my son.  Thank you coach.

Coach taught me so many life lessons. He helped me go from a shy introvert to a public speaker. I will miss him. But can only imagine the team that is waiting for him on that big field in heaven.

Coach Boswell was a great man that will always be remembered as well as missed.His legacy won't be measured by Wins and Losses on the football field but by all the boys he helped raise and mold into good men. Heaven is getting a great football coach and even greater man.

Grew up with the boys at the Lilac house. Coach is loved and respected by all who met him. My deepest symphathy to the family.

Coach Boswell taught me to drive.  The boys in my group were cocky about their driving skills, so Coach picked ME to drive on the 405 on the very first day of Driver's Training.  I was terrified!  "Always keep up with traffic."

You inspired the entire student body with your legendary pep rally speaches.  You made us believe we could reach higher goals and be better citizens.  You invested in the lives of both young men and women and your influence travels to great distances and depths because you poured yourself out for them.  I pray our Heavenly Father greets you with, "Well done, good and faithful servent" (Matt 25:21a) Class of '71

My deepest condolences to the BOSWELL FAMILIES and their many close friends. Wasn't I the lucky one to have met both Bill and Bob while we were in grade school and then to have all the memories of HBUHS... then, add Bill's lovely soulmate (Phala Jo) into the mix!  Without doubt, a legend has left us saddened and heart broken. Billy, until we meet again, you will be in my daily thoughts and prayers.

So sad to learn this news.  My brothers both played football at WHS and Boswell coached them, he was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Saw him at Gary Maddox funeral and he spoke, he looked the same!  My prayers go out to his family.  He was a legend and will be greatly missed.

As a friend of Bill's daughter, I know he will be missed and pray that God holds his family in the palm of His hand during their healing.  May you rest in peace.

I had the good fortune to work with Bill in my role as Girl's Athletic Director at Marina for a number of years.  He was mostly "cool, calm, and collected", but could become fiercely involved and always had the best interests of the athletes in his heart.  His family should be extremely proud of all his accomplishments and of the honors he earned during his career.
