Shirley May Hughes

Shirley M. Hughes passed away peacefully in her home on June 24th, 2020. She was welcomed by her beloved daughter, Jeannie and son, David into her new heavenly home. Shirley was born in Billings, Montana on November 1st, 1930 to Donna and Orville Hoem. She became a resident of Westminster, CA for 63 years.

Shirley worked mostly in sales in her younger life, but was more a devoted mother to her children Jeannie and David. She enjoyed traveling, mostly cruises. She had a love for Country music and Oldies. Shirley enjoyed going to community college, so she could learn her way around the computer. She took pride in organizing her photos, making cards and genealogy.

Shirley was well known for the neighborhood "Garage Parties" back when her kids were younger. She loved being the hostess AND a participant. Still today those neighborhood friends would still come to visit her. Shirley is a pet lover as well, she leaves behind her Koi Bubbles, turtle Matilda and "kitty" a stray she took in.

Shirley is survived by her 88-year-old brother, Clifford Hoem; her grandchildren, Ernest, Dywayne, Shawn, Jessica and Rhianna; her great grandchildren; and her great-great grandchildren. She will be missed by all of her family and friends and by her very dear friend, Arlene Smith.

Services will be held at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary in the Main Chapel, located at 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683 on July 13th, 2020 at noon. Her final blessing and interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, located at 4471 Lincoln Ave., Cypress, CA 90630.
