Uncle Bob,

You have always been a kind and warm soul.   We are truly blessed to have you in our lives.  You are a beacon of light.  You have always showed us love and support.  You drove with my dad, Aunt Judy and Andrea to Arizona and had numerous talks with your nieces and nephews just to make sure we were ok.  Most importantly, you have showed us the love for our Aunt Judy.  We got to see the unbreakable bond and love of two best friends.  We thank you for loving her and taking care of her.  

This is not a goodbye but we will see you later.

Dear Uncle Bob,
There has been many fond memories of you when we would have our big family gatherings.  You always had a warm big smile with your big blue eyes.  You definitely will be missed.  Thank you for creating my childhood memories of you dressing up as Santa Clause and bringing presents for us, it's what all of our cousin's looked forward to each Christmas and something I'll cherish forever.  May you rest in peace and I hope that one day we will meet again.

Bac Dzung, I hope you find comfort in knowing that Uncle Bob is in a better place now, and that you're surrounded by loved ones.  I hope that time will mend all sorrow.  Our deepest condolences go out to you at this time.

Dear Bob,

It is difficult to accept that you are not here with us anymore. I look back at our memories with fondness.

I will always cherish your warmth and kindness. Whether during celebrations and parties or serendipitous run-ins at the bank, your laughter always seemed to fill the room and cause everyone else to smile. There was never a dull moment with you. I remember my husband, Khanh, always encouraging you with his antics—“just one more drink”— but thankfully Chi Dzung always knew better than to let that happen. 

I wish I could’ve said goodbye and properly wished you well on your journey, but I know you will watching over us. I wish your loved ones, Chi Dzung especially, the best during this difficult time. You will be dearly missed.

Dear Uncle Bob,
We’ll miss you. Thank you for always being such a warm, kind and smiling presence for us kids over the years at our big family gatherings. It was always a treat to chat with you and you made Christmas so fun and made the holiday feel special when you would dress up as Santa Clause for us :). Your friendly demeanor and spirit was always so nice to be around. You and Auntie Judy created a wonderful and loving life together here on Earth and we just want you to know that we will be here for Auntie Judy in any way we can. Uncle Bob, 

Thank you for being you. To this very day, I am still in disbelief that you are no longer here. I will never forget your vibrant smile and the great times we shared together.

Every year, for as long as I can remember, I would look forward to a very special day with you. On Thanksgiving day, you and Bac Dzung would invite us over and treat us to your savory turkey dinner. Your kindness and generosity continues to warm my heart. I recall that you would always inquire about both my academic progress and experiences in Boy Scouts. I appreciate how you cared about my future and wellbeing. While I understand that my college graduation was too far, I am glad that you attended my high school graduation.

During my journey to become an Eagle Scout, I needed help to conceptualize a project that would benefit a nonprofit organization. You came with me to the Irvine Animal Care Center and we determined that building a new foundation for one of their preexisting structures would be suitable. Building that foundation was an arduous task, but was very satisfying to complete for my Eagle Scout project. I am very grateful and fortunate to have you as my uncle.

I am so glad to have known you all my life, as you have seen me grow up to who I am today.  Those family parties we had every year with the rest of the extended family I will cherish those times. More recently I am happy to have seen you and aunt Judy this past February and we were able to catch up once again. I can’t thank you enough for the kindness and generosity you have shown to me throughout the years. I appreciate the life advice you gave me and I hope that you and aunt Judy will be proud.

To my beloved cousin,Bob,         
I miss you very much, as do my son, James and daughter-in-law, Meghan.  I first really remember you when,  as a teenager, you came to live in our downstairs bedroom.  I was so excited to have this handsome, older boy cousin in our home.  Bob, that is when you became the older brother my sister and I never had.  You were cool,  like “the Fonz”, only better looking!!!  Years went by and then you married the lovely, adorable, Judy.  She, thankfully,  reconnected you to our family.  My parents were so pleased every time you came to visit.  I had moved to New York, but as a flight attendant, I was able to come to California and have some lovely lunches with you and Judy.  The best but last time we were together was at my nephew, David and his wife, Susan’s wedding.  It was at a dude ranch and you were the best cowboy ever!!!!  Happy trails, Bob.  Sending my love to you in heaven, where you most certainly reside.   Susan, James and Meghan

My family and I are going to miss you cousin Bob.  We are all so glade that we got to spend time together last October at my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding.  What a good memory.  We wish the best for Judy.  The two of  you had a special bond.  The Lauinger family

Uncle Bob,  you are so very missed. We are so grateful for the memories you have filled our lives with.

Growing up, the Nguyen family was notorious for all-day family festivities. That meant that at some point during the party, there would be the sound of someone snoring in the corner of the room. All the kids would chuckle as it was always either you or my dad as the culprit. And all those Christmas holidays where you would disappear from the house only to re-emerge as Santa Claus. 

Thank you and Aunt Judy for accompanying my parents and me to my externship in Arizona. This sheltered little California girl, moving to an Indian Reservation to live in a double-wide trailer, in the dead of winter in the White Mountains, was quite frightening to say the least. Both of you came to support me and also keep my parents company during the long road trip. That gesture has always meant so much to me. 

After I finished school, you, Aunt Judy, dad and I enjoyed many Monday lunches at various Vietnamese establishments. In recent years, Israel somehow took dad’s place and Turnip Rose became the new hot spot. Funny how life comes full circle as our last lunch together was at a Vietnamese restaurant right before the stay-at-home orders. You claiming to not be a fan of crepes, to then finally caving in to try them, to then suddenly not eating the crepes fast enough. It was so hilarious to witness. Words cannot express how much we are going to miss the wonderful stories you’d tell and the laughs we’d share while filling our bellies with yummy food. 

We make a promise to you that we will continue these lunches with Aunt Judy. We know that you will be there to join us in spirit. 

Lastly, I wanted to say that the love that you and Aunt Judy have for one another is so inspiring. Two best friends who laughed constantly together. Two true partners in life. One grand adventure.

Uncle Bob,
There are no words to describe how much I miss you. You were not only a positive influence, but one of the biggest role models I had in my life. Thank you for always pushing me to be a better me.  I made a lot of mistakes younger. There are countless times that you've sat me down and gave me your words of wisdom, and I just wanted you to let you know it didn't fall on deaf ears.  You believed in me and your ability to persuade me to be better is the motivation for why I continue my education and personal growth. Thank you and Bac Dzung for supporting my interpersonal journey by giving me the opportunity to go see Tony Robbins. The guidance you have given me and my family growing up has helped make me the person I am today. I look forward to making you proud. Having our birthdays only one day apart, I am grateful for all the celebrations we were able to share. 

On behalf of my family, I just want to say that we love you and hope you are peaceful in your journey. I feel so lucky to have someone like you watching after us. 
Being that you've helped make me the person I am today, you should know you don't need to worry about Bac Dzung. You and Bac Dzung have looked out for us all our lives, we will do the same for Bac Dzung. We love you !

We miss you, Uncle Bob.  Everyday I think of you, and I can't believe you are no longer with us.  I still remembered the last time I saw you and Aunt Judy was just recently at the shopping center in Huntington Beach.  We seem to always cross path somehow around town.  I will never forget the time I walked into a classroom, and to my surprise you and Aunt Judy were also taking the same class which we all completed that summer.  I thanked you, and Aunt Judy for alway welcoming me with open arms.  I also remembered the time you invited me to hang out your office to learn more about the mortgage business, and talk about other business adventures.  Your kindhearted and intelligent will never be forgotten.  Cynde and I will treasure all the memories we had with you.  By the way, you don’t have to worry about Aunt Judy, we are all here to take care of her for you.  Rest In Peace Uncle Bob.

Thank you for all the good times and for always going out of your way to make sure our families always got together for Christmas and Thanksgiving. It's because of you I would always look forward to and crave your infamous turkey, mashed potatoes, and everything in between. I can say without a shadow of doubt that without you, our Thanksgivings would have definitely not have been the same. Without you, I can honestly only imagine that we would have had extremely Vietnamese inspired Thanksgiving dinners, and I don't even think we would've been spoiled with a turkey, let alone the ones like yours! 
Thank you for always being there for the important milestones in my life, especially with school. Even when my parents weren't able to make it, you and Bac D were always able to make sure you could attend my graduations from college, high school, and even middle school. I will never forget that. Although I am still in disbelief over everything, I know you will be right there to help us all get through this. Thank you for everything, Uncle Bob.
