Quang Anh Quach was born on April 29, 1947 in the city of Đai Lãnh, Đại Lộc County, in the province of Quang Nam, Viet Nam. During this time the French government was at war with Viet Nam . Quang and his two sisters were raised by his mother. His father and his older brother had left for North Viet Nam.
Quang finished elementary school then moved to Da Nang to complete his high school degree. All young men who finished high school were required to enlist in the army because Viet Nam was embroiled in a civil war.
In 1969, Quang enrolled in the army academy in Thủ Đức, later transitioning to the navy. This shift proved advantageous for him, as naval positions typically involved fewer direct combat engagements with the enemy.
In 1970, Quang was promoted to second lieutenant and decided to take a short vacation to visit a relative in Saigon. During his stay, there was a large Seventh-day Adventist evangelistic meeting, which he attended with his relative. At this event, he noticed a beautiful young lady singing in the choir. Intrigued, he introduced himself and learned that she was a nursing student. Their acquaintance blossomed into a courtship, leading to their engagement in 1973.
As the war conflict intensified, it reached a climax in 1975 with the fall of Saigon and the collapse of the South Vietnamese government. Quang managed to leave Viet Nam and successfully emigrated to the United States. By God’s grace, he was reunited with his fiancée there. They were married on April 25, 1976, in San Diego, California. That same year, Quang committed to his faith in Christ and was baptized by Elder Le Cong Giáo.
Quang spent a few years working as a waiter at a barbeque restaurant during the day and went to school at night. He eventually became a computer technician, a profession he maintained throughout his career until retirement.
Quang is survived by his wife Lan, his two sons David and Daniel, and two grandchildren Jethro and Thaddeus. He also leaves behind an elder brother and elder sister still living in Viet Nam, and a younger sister living in San Jose, California.
Quang led a life marked by simplicity, finding joy in hobbies like gardening, fishing, traveling, and tennis.
Quang put God foremost in his life and taught his family to do the same. He served the Lord quietly, humbly, and faithfully.
At this time, the family requests no flowers, contributions, or gifts thank you.
A visitation service for Quang will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Peek Funeral Home, 7801 Bolsa Ave, Westminster, CA 92683, Chapel 1.
