I came to know Paul in the past few years as a neighbor and a bright and knowledgeable gentleman. Paul and I shared similar histories and from time to time shared memories and lies about our past - it’s sometimes hard to separate those. 

Paul was a “quality” person, carrying about those whom he had known for many years and those who he had only recently met, focusing on the good in both while ignoring the less attractive characteristics that we all have.  His thoughts seemed to be centered on his family and friends and not on himself, bragging about them while minimizing his many significant contributions. 

While his ability to get around dropped off, he lost little of his abilities to reason, and his inventive nature as he aged - I can only hope to follow that path as well as he did .  He was as sharp as a pin in conversation and had bright well thought out solutions to offer to any problem that was brought to him. 

I will miss him greatly.
