Tuyet-Nga Thi Nguyen was born on September 30, 1940 in Vietnam and passed away on August 8, 2010 in Huntington Beach just short of her 70th birthday. Nga as she was known, was a long time resident of both South Pasadena and Huntington Beach, who was committed to working with people, especially children. After she had received her Bachelor’s degree in Teaching of English as a second language (TOEASL) in Vietnam, she went to the University of Wales in England in the mid-1960’s to receive a Post Graduate Diploma in the same field. She returned to Saigon, Vietnam to teach English at the college level. She and her family escaped the horrors of war as refugees in 1975. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from UCLA in 1982 and her license in clinical social work from the State of California. She was a strong influence in her family in her commitment to working with children. She was a Los Angeles County employee for 23 years, including at the Department of Public Social Services, the Department of Mental Health working on children’s mental health issues, and retired from the Department of Children and Family Services. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Frank Nguyen, her son Dr. Loc Nguyen, daughter-in-law Catherine Daly Nguyen, her cherished 6 year-old grandson Colson, and her many siblings and extended family
