Victor Van Nguyen passed away peacefully in the evening of May 8, 2022 after his recent diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer. Victor managed his illness with courage and dignity, and spent as much time as possible with his family until his passing. In Victor’s final moments, he was surrounded by his loved ones including his wife and three daughters who he adored more than anything else in the world.
Victor was born in My Tho, Vietnam where he fought in the Vietnam War for seven years before he met his wife, Marylyn. Shortly after getting married and having their first daughter Diana, they fled Vietnam by boat in 1981 and eventually settled in California with the intention of building a family and a better life. Through all the adversity Victor faced, he stayed strong, resilient, and he persevered. In Victor’s free time, he enjoyed music, karaoke, videography, gardening and spending time with family. He never missed a family event and was always there to capture special memories on his video camera. Victor was kind, generous, and always had a sense of humor. He was a dedicated and dependable father who raised his three daughters to be strong and independent and taught them important life lessons. Victor was the beloved husband of 43 years to Marylyn, father of 3 daughters: Diana, Kathi, and Karena, grandfather of 2 grandsons: Benjamin and Brandon, brother of 4 siblings, and uncle to many nephews and nieces. He will be dearly missed by all of his loved ones.
