Martha Lee Duffy, age 82, passed away peacefully November 13, 2020 due to congestive heart failure. She was born November 13, 1938 in Long Beach, California, to Harold and Edith Shirk. Martha dedicated her life to Jehovah on September 10, 1955. She married William James Duffy, in December of 1958.
Martha loved people in her territory and her friends in the East Garden Grove Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses very much. She spent many hours a month in the ministry preaching and teaching to people in the door-to-door work about God's Kingdom. Her hands were rarely still. She was highly active in helping people to learn God's Word. Many who met Martha were often taken in as family by her loving concern for them.
After retiring from the Cypress School District in 2002, she began to Pioneer, (a Kingdom Preacher of Jehovah's Witnesses), for nearly 2 decades. Walking door to door to search for people who would like to learn of the wonderful hope of life in a paradise earth under God's Kingdom. It suited her to be a servant of the Most High God. Many Kingdom Publishers found comfort lodging at her home from all over the world enjoy home cooked meals. She followed the example of Lydia’s hospitality found in the Scriptures. “And a woman named Lydia, a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira and a worshipper of God, was listening, and Jehovah opened her heart wide to pay attention to the things Paul was saying. Now when she and her household got baptized, she urged us: “If you have considered me to be faithful to Jehovah, come and stay at my house.” And she just made us come.” (Acts 16:15,16 NWT) Martha’s motto was: “Do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others. The world can always use one more kind person. And if you can take it one step further, please do it for people searching for God”. Her life was a living testimony of one of her favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32 — “But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave you.” (NWT)
Martha is survived by her son Kevin and daughters Michele Green and Rhonda Cleeland, and her brother Claude Shirk. Also, several grandchildren: Christopher, Michael, Alicia, Amanda, Ryan, Kyle, Dylan. Along with great grandchildren. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
We loved her Very Much!!!
