Martha Jan Wilson Bailey our beloved Wife, Mother, Mema, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Niece, and friend completed her earthly mission on October 24, 2021. Jan passed after a long battle of cancer which she bore with grace and strength.
Jan came into this world on July 26, 1957 accompanied by her identical twin sister Ann, they were the youngest of William Wilson Jr. and Eugenie (Coltrin) Wilson’s five children. Jan grew up in Westminster, CA, but as a teenager her father’s work took the family to the Canary Islands and Scotland.
After going to school at Brigham Young University and a first marriage Jan moved back to Westminster where she met Merrill Wallace Bailey and fell in love, the two were married in 1988. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. They became a blended family and bought a home in Westminster just a couple blocks away from Jan’s childhood home.
Jan was a very devoted mother who was very active in school events and working with the PTA. She took much pride in her son, and four daughters. Jan was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many callings in Relief Society and Young Women. She especially loved serving the youth of the church and was well loved by all she worked so hard to serve. Jan was a wonderful example of loving as the Savior does, she tried to see the best in people and to help everyone feel loved and valued.
Jan worked for many years supporting the US Navy as a civilian employee and contractor. She made dear friends there that enriched her life and who she missed dearly after her retirement in 2018.
Jan is survived by her sweetheart Merrill, her children Brent (Bethany), Vauri (Jay), Jenny (Chris), Lisa (Adam) and Lindsay (Matt); as well as grandchildren Owen, Bailey, Ava, Crosby, James, Ryder, Triton, McKenna, Keenan, Andrew, Aurora, Porter, Boone; and by brothers Gene (Holly), John; and sisters Noryne (Garry) and Ann (Ed). She is reunited with her parents Bill and Jeanie Wilson; and her parents-in-law Wally and Deon Bailey.
A memorial service for Jan will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 5402 Heil Ave., Huntington Beach, CA 92649 on Saturday, November 20th at 11:00 am. The family requests that masks be worn.
