Malcolm Andrew Mather passed away January 27, 2013. He was the elder of two children born to Peter and Margaret Mather on Nov 15, 1938. He is survived by his wife Mary Castillo Mather, his sister Joyce Riebe, his daughters Tracy Mather and Carrie Foster, stepdaughters Lori, Anna, and Silvia, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Donna and stepson Paul.
Malcolm was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. When he was nine, his family moved to Acampo, CA, where he was raised. He joined the Air Force at 18 and was trained as an electronics technician. The Air Force, in its infinite wisdom, saw fit to waste that money and instead pay him to play baseball for four years. After his honorable discharge, he worked as an electronics technician at Seal Beach Naval Shipyard, then at Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station until his retirement.
Malcolm’s hobbies included baseball, sailing, and making aircraft models. He spent his retirement enjoying time with his family. He was never without a funny story to tell. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
