Karen Lee (Payne) Allen, age 75, daughter of Joseph and Lois (Poor) Payne was born November 28th, 1942, in Kirkwood, MO. She went to be with our Lord on August 20th, 2018 in her home in Searcy, AR surrounded by her loving family.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her eldest sister JoAnn Phelps. Also preceding her death were four infant grandchildren; Nathaniel Travis, Sarah Stetson and unborn twins.
Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Robert “Bob” of Searcy, AR; Six children in order from oldest to youngest: Clyde Allen and wife Karen of CA, Timothy Allen of CA, Pamela (Allen) Hernandez of TN, Shirley (Allen) Stetson and husband Scott of CA, Robert Allen, II and wife Julie of AR, Michael Allen of CO. Thirteen grandchildren; Kristopher Allen, Ian Allen, Rebecca Cooper, Jenifer (Dale), Patsy (Roberts), Gordon Allen, Scott Stetson II, Jordan Allen, Sean Allen, Kaitlin (Gann), Samantha Stetson, Sabrina Allen, and Daniel Allen. Three great-grandchildren: Hayden, Jacob and Zachariah. Other family members include one sister, three brothers and many other nieces, nephews, cousins aunts and uncles.
Karen was raised in a Christian home which was the backbone of the church that became known as the La Puente Church of Christ in CA. She went on to raise her children in the church of Christ and later became a faithful member of the College Church of Christ in Searcy, AR. In her youth she worked in her family’s candy shop, which then grew into a life-long love of making sweets. She was known for her famous chocolate fudge and peanut brittle, as well as her cookies and pies. Singing was also a great passion to her and her family, who would often gather with other Christians to sing and worship in their home. Karen enjoyed being part of many communities which included the White County Republican Committee, several PTA’s, and many church groups. She spent several years working for Pacific Bell as a marketing representative and retired after they merged with AT&T. She enjoyed her career and was known as a hard worker. With her outgoing personality Karen wouldn’t miss the opportunity to introduce herself to any new faces. She was a caring woman who was intent on supporting her children and making sure they became happy, Christian adults. She was well-loved by her family, friends, and community and will be deeply missed.
