

Joyce Joan Hart Striewig was born in Gettysburg, South Dakota to Glenn and Myrtle (Bastian) Hart. Her family moved to California in 1937, and she was a resident of Long Beach for the remainder of her life.
Joyce attended Edison Elementary, Washington Junior High, Polytechnic High and Long Beach City College schools. She received the California State CPS (Certified Professional Secretary), certification in 1983. She was employed by Long Beach Unified School District as an executive secretary and retired in 2001 after 25 years.
After her husband's passing in 1995, she traveled with family and friends to many places in the United States and around the world. She was an avid reader and always encouraged her grandchildren to read. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, working on crafts and projects, playing games, and attending their sports and school activities. She enjoyed musical theatre and movies, gardening, volunteering, and making her own greeting cards. Over the years, Joyce was active in Indian Maidens, Indian Guides, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA Lifetime Member, Whirlaways Square Dance Club, Lakewood YMCA/Y's Men's Club, PEO Chapter EJ, PSI (Professional Secretaries International), and volunteering at LBUSD, Los Alamitos Medical Center, and her church office.
She is survived by her three children Tom (Patti), Ron (Rachel), and Susan (Craig) Peterson; her six grandchildren (Tommy, Kelly, Grant, Sophia, Emily, and Tyler); and her brother Michael (Sarabecca) Hart. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Murray Striewig; and two nieces and a nephew.
A private family graveside service will be held at Westminster Memorial Park.
