Ông Huỳnh Kim Khải, 64 tuổi, đã đột ngột qua đời vào ngày 10 tháng 12 năm 2021 tại Bệnh viện St. Joseph, Orange ngay sau khi đưa vào phòng cấp cứu vì nhiều cơn đau và khó thở trên đường đến công ty làm việc.
Khải sinh ra tại Bình Định, Việt Nam vào ngày 28 tháng 12 năm 1958. Ông tận hưởng thời niên thiếu bên gia đình lớn đầy tình yêu thương của mình tại thành phố núi thơ mộng Pleiku, Gia Lai, Việt Nam. Cha ông là Huỳnh Văn Kiều một nhà giáo đức độ, có tâm và giàu lòng nhân ái, mẹ ông là Lý Thị Ngọc một phụ nữ sống mẫu mực, chịu thương chịu khó. Năm lên 6 tuổi Khải bắt đầu đi học tại Trường Phủ - Nhơn Phúc, An Nhơn, Bình Định; đối với Khải sách vở chỉ cần xem qua một lần là nhớ. Năm 1965, gia đình Khải chuyên lên Pleiku sinh sống, và Khải được vào học tại các trường Tiểu học Trần Quốc Toản, Trung học Pleiku tại đây Khải được đánh giá là một học trò xuất sắc của trường, nhất là các môn tự nhiên Toán, Vật lý, Hóa học. Năm 18 tuổi (1976) Khải một mình đến thành phố Sài Gòn, Việt Nam và thi đậu thẳng vào Trường Đại học Bách khoa TP Hồ Chí Minh – khoa Điện (Đại học Kỹ thuật Phú Thọ trường nổi tiếng của Sài Gòn, năm đó tỉnh Gia Lai - Kon Tum chỉ có 2 học sinh thi đậu vào trường này). Tại trường Đại học này ông tiếp tục là một trong những sinh viên tài năng, gương mẫu.
Sau khi tốt nghiệp ra trường, ông khởi nghiệp với vai trò kỹ sư Điện tại Công ty thực phẩm Thiên Hương, tại đây ông gặp vợ ông - Sương, làm cùng công ty. Họ kết hôn năm 1987, sinh được con gái đầu lòng - Tâm. Thời gian sau đó, ông chuyển sang làm việc tại Công ty Cơ Điện Lạnh REE, khi đó họ có con gái thứ hai - Hoàn. Tại REE, ông là trưởng bộ phận tổ chức triển khai dự án kỹ thuật xây dựng cho Tổng Lãnh sự quán Hoa Kỳ tại TP Hồ Chí Minh. Sau khi hoàn thành dự án vào năm 1999, ông chính thức được Đại sứ quán Hoa Kỳ tuyển dụng làm Trưởng phòng Bảo trì cho Tổng Lãnh sự quán Hoa Kỳ tại TP Hồ Chí Minh - và ông là một trong những người nhân viên đầu tiên của Lãnh sự quán Hoa Kỳ tại TP Hồ Chí Minh. Năm 2015, ông được Chính phủ Hoa Kỳ cấp thị thực nhập cư đặc biệt để tri ân 16 năm công tác, làm việc của ông tại Lãnh sự quán. Ông công tác và làm việc tại Southern California Precision Machining, Inc. khi ông cư trú tại Anaheim, Hoa Kỳ. Ông đưa vợ và hai con gái đến California với hy vọng mang lại cho con một tương lai tốt đẹp hơn, hiện tại hai con của ông đã tốt nghiệp Đại học và làm việc ổn định tại đây.
Khải được biết đến như là một người thông minh, hiểu biết rộng, luôn tìm tòi nghiên cứu và có thể làm tốt công việc ở hầu hết các vị trí mà ông đã trải qua. Ông là người có uy tín, được sự tín nhiệm của cấp trên cũng như sự tôn trọng và quý mến của đồng nghiệp. Trong gia đình, ông là một người con hiếu thảo với ông bà, ba mẹ, yêu thương, giúp đỡ anh chị em. Ông là một người cha đầy trách nhiệm, nhân hậu yêu thương vợ con. Ông được bạn bè yêu mến vì sự uyên bác, vui vẻ và tốt tính. Ngoài yêu thích các lĩnh vực khoa học, kỹ thuật, điện - điện tử, ông cũng là một người có tâm hồn lãng mạn, hài hước, thích đàn và hát, thích thưởng thức âm nhạc và thơ văn.
Ông ra đi là một mất mát to lớn của gia đình. Mẹ, vợ, anh chị em, các con và các cháu, bạn bè và đồng nghiệp vô cùng thương tiếc.

Huynh Kim Khai (Khai Huynh), 64, passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2021 at St. Joseph Hospital, Orange, shortly after being rushed to the emergency room following bouts of chest pain and shortness of breath on his way to work.
Khai was born in Binh Dinh, Vietnam on December 28, 1958. He enjoyed his boyhood with his big, loving family in the dreamy mountainous city of Pleiku, Gia Lai, Vietnam. At age 18, Khai moved to the City of Saigon, Vietnam by himself to pursue his undergraduate study in University of Technology, majoring in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, Khai started out as an electrical engineer at Thien Huong Foods Company, where he met his wife Suong, who worked for the same company. Following their marriage in 1987, Suong gave birth to his first born daughter - Tam. In 1995, Khai began working at REE Refrigeration Electrical Corporation, and shortly after, they had their second daughter, Hoan. At REE, Khai was the contracted team leader on the project of building the electrical and water infrastructure of the US General Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City. After the project completion in 1999, Khai was officially hired by the US Embassy as the Maintenance Manager for the US General Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City - making him one of the founding staff of the institute. In 2015, Khai was granted special immigrant visas by the US government for 16 years of hard work at the Consulate, bringing his wife and two daughters with him to California in hopes of giving them a better future. Residing in Anaheim, CA, Khai worked as a quality inspector for the Southern California Precision Machining, Inc.
Khai was known as a smart, curious person who excelled in almost every position he had been in. He was trusted by his superiors as well as admired and adored by his colleagues. In his family, Khai was a filial son, and a loving brother to his siblings. He also was a responsible father and husband, full of love for his wife and daughters. Khai was well-liked amongst his peers because of his intelligence, kindness, and great sense of humor. Besides his fondness for science and technology, Khai was also a romantic soul who loved playing the guitar and singing, and enjoyed music and poetry.
His departure is a huge loss to his family. Khai is survived and mourned by his mother, Ly Thi Ngoc; his wife, Ho Thi Tuyet Suong; his daughters, Tam Huynh and Heidi Hoan Huynh; his sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews.
All services and visitation will be held at Peek Funeral Home - Chapel #1, followed by a graveside service at Westminster Memorial Park - Meditation.
