To the family of Hazel.  I had wanted to call your mom so many times in the past months and for one reason or another, got distracted or busy.  So on Thanksgiving Day I made the time to finally call only to find her number disconnected.  I tried again thinking I had misdialed but it was disconnected again.  My heart sank.  I didnt know who to call so I looked in the only place I could think of and that was the OC Register legacy.  I am late at sending my condolences but please know my thoughts are with you.  
Hazel usually called me a couple times a week and I looked forward to hearing her sweet voice on the phone. She would relay the church news with me and also her daily life news with me.    I felt very priviledged hearing about her daily life. I know that my mom was waiting at the gates of heaven when she arrived.  I know they are reading Bible stories and singing hymns together.  My mom really loved her.  

As this next month approaches, it will mark 1 year that our mom left us. Somedays it feels like only yesterday and other days it feels like a lifetime ago.  I hope you find peace in your mom's wonderful memories.  That is what has gotten me thru this past year.

I knew Hazel during the late 80's and early 90's when I lived in Wimbledon Village.  She was so involved on the HOA board because she cared about the neighborhood and she had time and talent to contribute.  A little dynamo of a lady and a good role model.  I haven't seen her in years but I'm sure she'll be greatly missed by family and friends and I send my condolences.

 
HAZEL TEMPLE----MEMORIAL  APRIL 10, 2010

It has been my privilege for more than 10 years to teach the Truthseekers Sunday School class here at Beachpoint Church---that was how I and my wife Joan got to know Hazel Temple—a very loving, caring, encouraging person.
 We never heard Hazel say a negative thing about anyone.  She was always so positive!  Everyone needs a Hazel in their life to lift their spirits and to help them feel better about life!
Proverbs 17:22 says , “A cheerful heart brings good healing”
She was encouraging to us all!

 I always relied on Hazel in class  to get an update on the health and welfare of some of our class members.  One of her ministries was keeping in touch with and praying for people she loved.  What a wonderful, Christ lead ministry.

 And Hazel knew her Lord!
Even to the last time I saw Hazel in the hospital she always showed a steadfast, strong faith in her Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ.  If you knew Hazel Temple you knew she was born again.  And if you ever heard her pray you knew she was certain of her salvation. 
 Our prayer times in class are always special, as saints who have walked with the Lord for many, many years come before the throne of Grace.  Hazel was one of them!
 I will miss her a lot . . . . . . .
  -the twinkle in her eye
  -her winsome smile
  -The chuckle that was always there
  -And above all her loving encouragement

The scripture says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.  I know that if Hazel could stand before us today she would confirm the wisdom of knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and being prepared to spend eternity with Him!

Thank you Hazel for being our friend and adding so much to our life and the lives of many others.

Hazel was the first person I met when we moved into Wimbledon Village back in 1984.  She was a wonderful friend to us for many years, and she was especially fond of my husband Bob whom she said always reminded her of her own husband.  She always said they were so much alike in looks, stature and mannerism that he always brought a smile to her face when she would see him-they were so much alike.  My husband worked in the Aerospace Industry too.  I would love to listen to her stories of the old days and always admired her "Rosie the Riveter" Picture of herself hanging in the garage.  She was like my own Grandma that I missed so much and visiting her nostalgic home and yard with its many birdhouses and beautiful flowers made me feel like I was in another place and time.  I lost touch these past 3 years because I have been caring for my own ailing Dad and am not home very much and am truly saddened by the time that I missed with her, but she was always in my heart.  Another fond memory I have is hearing of her large Family Reunions....she was truly blessed to have such a wonderful life.  So many times turning by her house I would see her by the mailbox or hanging her flag and it always put a smile on my face to see her that day.  Seeing her home so nicely decorated each Christmas....these are the memories and the things I will so deeply miss but always remember about our dear friend and neighbor.  She always spoke of her family so highly and was lucky to have so many wonderful family members and friends in her life.
