

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dong Van Nguyen, aged 84, on March 18, 2025, in Fountain Valley, California. Dong was born on August 10, 1940, in Can Tho, Vietnam. He lived a life full of passion, creativity, and kindness, leaving behind an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Dong was a gifted artist, illustrator, and graphic designer. He received his Bachelor's degree from Da Lat University in Vietnam, where his love for art and design first began to flourish. Throughout his career, Dong's work showcased his immense talent and his dedication to his craft. His creations were not just illustrations, but reflections of his soul, deeply inspired by his love for art, music, literature, and philosophy.
Dong’s life was also enriched by his family. He met the love of his life, Hop Thi Nguyen, in Saigon, Vietnam. They married and together created a life full of love and joy. Their family grew with the birth of their daughter, Danchi Nguyen, and their beloved Chihuahua, who was a constant source of comfort and companionship.
Dong was known for his great sense of humor, his laid-back personality, and his deep love for those around him. His ability to bring laughter into any room, along with his calm and loving demeanor, made him a cherished friend and family member. He was a man of many interests, with a lifelong love for classical music, poetry, and literature, as well as a passion for food and travel. His inquisitive mind and thoughtful nature made every conversation with him a journey of discovery.
Described by those who knew him as funny, caring, calm, and loving, Dong will be deeply missed by his wife, Hop Thi Nguyen, his daughter, Danchi Nguyen, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He touched many hearts with his warmth and his ability to find joy in the simplest of moments.
A visitation for Dong will be held on April 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Westminster Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel. A service will follow on April 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and will conclude in the chapel.
He will be forever remembered for his creativity, kindness, and the love he shared with those around him. May his soul rest in peace.
