Darleen Ann Berens, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 15, 2024, just days before her 91st birthday. Darleen was born on November 28, 1933, on top of Signal Hill in California, and was a long-time resident of Huntington Beach, where she lived with love and devotion to her family.
A proud graduate of Huntington Beach High School, Darleen began her life’s journey in the community she cherished. On February 28, 1953, Darleen married the love of her life, John Berens, in Las Vegas, NV. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage, creating a legacy of love and devotion until John's passing in 2018.
Darleen was a dedicated homemaker throughout her life and poured her heart into caring for her family. She and John raised a daughter, Marie Louise, who became her greatest joy. Darleen was a devoted wife and mother, always there for her loved ones with an inquisitive nature, a caring heart, and a constant willingness to help others.
Darleen had a deep passion for genealogy, dedicating many years to researching her family history and preserving the stories of her ancestors. Her love for family was unwavering, and her involvement in family events and traditions brought warmth and togetherness to all who knew her.
Darleen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marie Louise (Berens) Lipot, son-in-law Robert J. Lipot, her grandchildren, John Robert Lipot, Trisha Marie (Lipot) Gable, Ann Marie Lipot-Webb, and her great-grandchildren, Sarah Madison Lipot, Sabrina Elizabeth Lipot, Mika Marie Gable, and Noah Laurence Gable. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will miss her greatly.
Darleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Henry Berens; her parents, Rosella (Yenrich) Ritchey and Mervin Lemuel Ritchey; and her sisters, Mervena (Ritchey) Prince, Dorothy (Ritchey) McCutchen, and Kathleen Ritchey.
Darleen was truly one-of-a-kind: inquisitive, involved, and most of all, loving. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity touched everyone she met, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come.
A visitation for Darleen will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel.
