I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Charline's passing.  My fondest memories of my grandmother, Charline's sister Marie, was when the three sisters were together.  They would laugh and those three were always made up to look like they were going to a ball.  And when Charline and Aunt Johnie would color my grandma's hair all those different red colors, too funny.  I missed those fun times and will miss stories of Charline and the sisters.

My sisters and I have been so lucky to have an Aunt like Charline who has been so caring as we were growing up in Long Beach. Charline was always there to help our mom(her sister Marie) shopping or whatever Mom needed because she didn't drive.When we had our families Charline was always fun for our kids to be with, and she we will always be loved and we will miss her very much, and thank God she was part of our life for so many years.We have so many memories of her but the one that stands out is when the three sisters would be together, there was never a second of silence. We loved it!

    The first time I met Charline was late 1979. I brought my Volkswagon bug over for Charlie to work on. Charline was sweeping the pourch and I could tell she was evaluating my suitability for her son. I guess her evaluation was favorable... We started dating a few months later and married in June of 1981.
    We lived with Jack and Charline for the first 8 months after we married and I learned alot from her about cooking and sewing. She was the most craft savvy person I ever met. She could make anything. We got our own place and were ready to start a family. Jack and Charline played a huge part in that! When Jessie was born Charline made sure I had only the best dress and bonnet to bring her home from the hospital in. We moved back in with Jack and Charline to save up to buy a house. At that point Jessie became Grandpa's baby. We got our house before Jessie's first birthday in Dec 1983. Then came Jackie in 1985, and Babe in 1987, all three December babies. Between Charline buying the girls dresses and patent leather shoes and Jack buying toys we had three of EVERYTHING! Our girls were dotted over like little princesses.
Jack passed away in 1988. At this point Babe became Grandma's baby. Charline spent nearly every night with us. She helped Charlie durring the years I worked the swing shift by helping the girls with there home work. "Taking thier lessons" as she would put it. Charline drove Babe to Gymnastics and would sit long hours at the gym. Jessie, Jackie and Babe could ask Grandma for anything. If mom and dad say no, ask grandma, was thier moto. She was always around. We took her on family vacations with us and she loved "gettin out and lookin around". She "just didn't like gittin her ears wet"
   Charline was the one who got us going to church. I would get Jessie all dolled up for sunday school, just like grandma liked to see her, in those frilly dresses. After awhile it dawned on me that if it was good for Jessie, it would be good for me too. Soon we were all attending Orangewood Ave. Baptist Church together. Those were wonderful years. 
    Grandma was a delight to everyone who met her. With that cackely Okie accent and her sence of humor she was a hit with all the girls friends. They all called her Grandma too! 
    Eversince I met Charlie, she has always been around. Now she is gone. My life was changed by Charline. And now, will surly be different. My she rest in peace.
