Charles Edward Davenport

Born March 23, 1928 in Whitesboro, Texas passed away October 30, 2010 in Huntington Beach, California.

Chuck was the youngest of four children. He served in the Army Air Corps in 1946 and 1947 as an Aerial Photographic Specialist. After the service he settled in California and married Valda Lee Mann in 1949. Together they had three boys, Charles, Jr., Stephen and Stanley. Chuck worked in the magazine business in those early years. His wife Valda passed away leaving him with three young boys. He married Mary Katheryn Wolff in 1959 and together they had five more children. Chuck started working for the Quaker Oats Company in 1959 and held various executive sales positions until his retirement in 1985.

Chuck was preceded in eternal life by his parents Coralie and Petway, his older brother Arlie, an older sister Mabel, and his first wife Valda. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Mary Katheryn , eight children; Charles E. Davenport, Jr. of Moorpark, CA, Stephen (Rex) Davenport of Tustin, CA, Stanley Davenport of Santa Ana, CA, Mary Ellen Biskup of Deadwood, SD, Rebecca Davenport of Long Beach, CA, Elizabeth Holmes of Huntington Beach, CA, David Davenport of Orange, CA, and Rachel Bergeron of Costa Mesa, CA, his sister Bettye Woods of Oregon, 19 grandchildren , 4 great-grandchildren and numerous family and friends.

There will be a visitation held on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Westminster Memorial Park & Mortuary 14801 Beach Blvd. Westminster, CA 92683 (714) 893-2421.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 2:00pm at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection 9812 Hamilton Avenue Huntington Beach, CA 92646 (714) 962-5005

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
