Charles Edward Barron was born on September 18, 1933 in Bradford, Tennessee. He was the 3rd child to Gervase R Barron and Ethel Ann Davidson Barron. He graduated from Bradford High School in 1951. In 1949, when he was 16 years old, he was a very lucky young man to recover from what would have been a very life changing injury. While swimming at a local pond with friends, he decided that he would dive in, only to find out that it was about 3-4 feet deep. This caused him to become paralyzed and rushed to Jackson where they drilled 2 holes in the top of his head and slowly added 15lb weights to help decompress his neck and spine, resulting in a miraculous recovery and only having a slight numbness and tingling in his hand.
In November 1953, Carolyn June and Charles Edward became one when they decided to exchange vows before his deployment. He entered the Navy in 1953 and was a radio controlman aboard the U.S.S. Maddox, #731, a destroyer. He ended his Navy career in 1957 when he and Carolyn started their life away from their Tennessee homestead, and called Long Beach, California their new home.
Charles and Carolyn welcomed their one and only child, Ronald Lee Barron in January of 1960. With Carolyn at home, Charles decided to further his education and enrolled at Cal State Long Beach, where he became the graduating class of 1961. He spent 33 years in the banking industry and became the Manager and Vice President of Security Pacific, which would turn into what we know now as Bank of America.
Once Charles retired in 1994, he decided he wasn't ready and took on another passion. He became a real estate broker and a certified notary in the city of Long Beach. He enjoyed adventuring down this road for about 15 years and then decided to seriously retire for good.
Throughout his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his wife, son and granddaughter. They would go out to dinner weekly, he was able to help his granddaughter after school, and hang out with his son every Sunday after church. Charles just adored his granddaughter, Whitney and was so grateful to have had her in his life. She has truly been an Angel throughout this difficult time.
Charles is survived by his wife, Carolyn June Barron, his son Ronald Lee Barron, his granddaughter Whitney Marie Tryon (Try-on), and his two great-grandchildren Brooke Maddison Tryon (Try-on) and Bradley Michael Tryon (Try-on).
